Nearing the halfway point, she could hear the footsteps of a person coming her direction.
She couldn’t believe her eyes…THE LUCK…she hadn’t paid much attention to the Force previously, but this was far too convenient for her to pass up. It was Scylas, the Betrayer!
He didn’t even notice her on the ground…not that it mattered. Karena sat herself up as best she could, trying not to topple over from sitting on one leg. Without a weapon, all she had was the Force and her flurry of enraged thoughts and emotions….he had no idea what was about hit him.
She reached out with Force and gripped him tightly, steeling herself in the process. He wasn’t getting away. She demanded vengeance for her people. For everything.
He gasped for air while entrenched in her grip and she pulled him to her from across the room, being sure to drag him on the ground along the way. He could eat the dirt he was about to die in. She didn’t care.
She kept him low so that their eyes met. His face was shocked and had turned interesting shades of red and blue while she slowly choked the life from him. He recognized her features…he had known that one of “his” people had survived and had been brought to Korriban, but he hadn’t crossed paths with the person…until now.
“You…you slaughtered us all! You lead them right to us! FOR THIS?! To be a slave?!” she was shaking she was so furious! The dark side flowed over her with ease….her white eyes began transitioning to a fierce yellow that glowed in that dark tomb.
“Welcome home,” she snarled and crushed his neck.
She had tried so hard to keep her humanity throughout her time on Korriban…but all of this was too much for her. Her vengeance had been had and she couldn’t let herself be haunted anymore, lest it be the end of her. She accepted her fall to the dark side.
She knew that if she was going to survive, she needed to let go of her past and embrace the darkness that was giving her strength. She couldn’t let go completely though…it was the thought of her people that had pushed her this far after all, but she needed to become more. As far as she was concerned, Karena died after Scylas did.
She and her people had been compared to a blizzard more times than she could count here. That’s what she needed to be. A blizzard. A storm of energy that simultaneously attacks anyone who crosses it and defends those that know how to handle it. She would carry the spirit of her people and she would remember them daily…she would become the winter warrior that no one saw coming.
This story serves as an expansion of The Winter Warrior, which was written as an initial biography for my main character, Blizzaire.
Author’s Note: The characters of Karena, Scylas, Lord Harinn and Lord Tranton found in this story are OC’s in my personal canon from Bioware’s MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic.
